Metro Manila, Philippines – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed qualified trafficking cases against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.

The DOJ lodged the complaint against Guo and 13 others before a Pasig City regional trial court on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The cases are non-bailable.

“We do hope na [that] these warrants of arrest are issued in such a timely manner para wala na pong [so there will be no more] – no more interruption doon sa [in the] custody ni [of] former Mayor Alice Guo,” Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano told reporters on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Guo is detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Facility in Quezon City due to graft charges. She has not posted bail.

The ex-public official also has a standing arrest order from the Senate for skipping the investigation on illegal offshore gaming, in which she has been tagged.

The Senate will have its final hearing on Sept. 24.

The Supreme Court earlier granted the DOJ’s request to transfer all of Guo’s cases, including those that are yet to be filed, to a Pasig court to avoid possible local influence.

Guo is also facing graft charges at a Valenzuela court.
