14 quakes logged in Kanlaon Volcano on Dec. 14 - Phivolcs
Metro Manila, Philippines - Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Provinces jolted 14 times on Saturday, Dec. 14, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Based on Phivolcs’ bulletin on Sunday, Dec. 15, Kanlaon Volcano spewed 50-meter high plumes or mixtures of volcanic particles which drifted west southwest on Saturday.
The volcano released 3,620 tons of sulfur dioxide.
Phivolcs reiterated its recommendation for residents within the six-kilometer zone to evacuate.
On Dec. 9, the volcano had an explosive eruption.
Alert Level 3 or high level of volcanic unrest has been hoisted over Kanlaon Volcano.
