Metro Manila, Philippines – The northeastern portion of Cagayan is under tropical cyclone wind signal number 3 as Typhoon Marce bears down on extreme northern Luzon, the latest weather bulletin showed.

Government forecasters said “Marce” may make landfall in Cagayan or the Babuyan islands on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The typhoon is expected to reach peak intensity before hitting land, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Meanwhile, four areas are under Signal 2, namely, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of mainland Cagayan, and the northern portion of Apayao

Over 10 areas in Luzon are under the lowest storm alert. These are:

+ Ilocos Norte

+ Ilocos Sur

+ Abra

+ the rest of Apayao

+ Kalinga

+ Mountain Province

+ Ifugao

+ the northern portion of Benguet

+ the rest of mainland Cagayan

+ Isabela

+ Quirino

+ Nueva Vizcaya

+ the northern portion of Aurora

PAGASA said the typhoon was last spotted east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 180 kph.

It said “Marce” may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday evening, Nov. 8.
