Metro Manila — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended warm congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump following his victory in the US presidential election, highlighting the “unshakeable alliance” between the Philippines and the United States.

Marcos said the outcome reflects “the strength of American values” and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to a durable partnership based on shared beliefs in freedom and democracy.

In a statement released following Trump’s win, Marcos lauded the “triumph of the American people” and expressed optimism for future cooperation with the incoming US president.

“We look forward to working with President Trump on a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits to two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, common vision, and a long history of working together,” he stated.

Marcos noted the strong Philippines-US alliance through the years.

“I am hopeful that this unshakeable alliance, tested in war and peace, will be a force of good that will blaze a path of prosperity and amity in the region and on both sides of the Pacific,” he said.

Marcos also noted his personal connection with Trump, whom he met during his youth, underscoring his confidence in the former president’s “robust leadership” to foster a brighter future for both nations.

“Our alliance is rooted in shared ideals of freedom and democracy, and this is a partnership the Philippines is fully committed to,” he said.
