Metro Manila, Philippines — Richard Fadullon is the new prosecutor general of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) under the Justice Department.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Fadullon as NPS chief in a letter signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin dated Oct. 30.

Fadullon replaced Benedicto Malcontento, who stepped down on Oct. 16.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla lauded Fadullon’s appointment.

“I am extremely confident in your skill, experience and resolve that you are the perfect fit for the title of prosecutor general capable of upholding the rule of law with fearlessness and utmost integrity," Remulla said in a statement.

Fadullon was a former senior deputy state prosecutor.

He finished his undergraduate course of AB Political Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1983. He completed his law degree at San Beda in 1987.
