68.6 million voters registered for May 12 polls
Metro Manila, Philippines — About 68.6 million voters have registered for the May 12 polls, Commission on Elections (Comelec) data showed on Sunday, Nov. 3.
The Comelec noted that the figures, as of Oct. 31, are subject to verification.
Calabarzon is the region with the highest number of registrants at 9.7 million, followed by Central Luzon with 7.7 million, and Metro Manila with 7.5 million.
The Cordillera Administrative Region, meanwhile, has the fewest registrants at 1.1 million.
The filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for local and national positions were held on Oct. 1 to 8.
The COC filing for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Parliamentary polls will start on Nov. 4 and end on Nov. 9.
Meanwhile, the shipment of two cargoes containing the final batch of automated vote counting machine kits from South Korea is set to arrive on Nov. 4.
