Metro Manila, Philippines — More areas are under Wind Signal 2 as Severe Tropical Storm Nika slightly intensifies on Sunday, Nov. 10.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Wind Signal 2 has been raised over:

+ northern and central portions of Aurora

+ Isabela

+ Quirino

+ southern portion of Cagayan

+ Nueva Vizcaya

+ Kalinga

+ Mountain Province

+ Ifugao

+ eastern portion of Benguet

+ northern portion of Nueva Ecija

+ northeastern portion of Pangasinan

Minor to moderate threat to life may be expected in the mentioned areas.

The following areas are under Wind Signal 1, which may pose minimal to minor threat to life and property:

+ rest of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands

+ Apayao

+ Abra

+ Ilocos Norte

+ Ilocos Sur

+ rest of Pangasinan

+ La Union

+ rest of Benguet

+ rest of Aurora

+ Tarlac

+ northern and central portions of Zambales

+ rest of Nueva Ecija

+ Pampanga

+ Bulacan

+ Metro Manila

+ Rizal

+ eastern portion of Laguna

+ eastern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands

+ Camarines Norte

+ Camarines Sur

+ Catanduanes

+ Albay

Moderate to heavy rains, or about 50 to 100 millimeters, can be expected over Aurora, Quezon, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Northern Samar.

Meanwhile, the northeasterly windflow will cause strong to gale-force gusts over Batanes.

PAGASA said there is a risk of storm surge occuring in low-lying or exposed coastal localities.

At 2 p.m., Nika was monitored 425 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 135 kph, moving westward at 30 kph.
