Metro Manila, Philippines — An African national has been arrested for carrying illegal drugs worth ₱42.16 million, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Sunday, Oct. 13.

Authorities had an interdiction operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 Customs International Arrival on Saturday, about 9 p.m.

Based on PDEA’s report, Phillip Theunissen had 6,200 grams of crystal meth in a pouch wrapped with black duct tape and packaging tape inside his luggage.

The drug evidence will be forwarded to PDEA’s laboratory service for examination.

Theunissen was apprehended for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He will undergo inquest proceedings.
