In the spirit of February (the month of love) we here at PULSE are starting a new tradition: sharing things we’ve tried, tested, and grown to love (or, okay, fine. Really, really like).
Over the course of January, I went through everything I’ve accumulated over the past few months (it was a lot), and I made a mental note to curb my impulse purchases. A good friend shared a tip that stuck with me: “The world will never run out of things for me to want.” So now, every time I pick up an item, I repeat these words to myself and only keep it if it’s something I truly need.
That said, here’s a list of things I genuinely loved this month—no paid partnerships, just honest recommendations worthy of your hard-earned money.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans, but most brands felt too generic. I had a few non-negotiables: they had to be durable, sustainable, and—most importantly—have lots of pockets. Renata’s jeans checked all those boxes and more. The fit and attention to detail are impeccable. They even have a matching jacket (which I also grabbed) featuring a *gasp* book pocket at the back—just big enough to fit your Kindle or even Infinite Jest. Renata releases items in small batches, so I highly recommend following them online to catch restocks. Pro tip: size up for a comfier fit.
2. Ora by Sola
I wanted to gatekeep this one, but I love it too much to keep quiet. This lotion is incredibly moisturizing and smells divine. My personal favorite scent is Mothership, and I knew it was a winner when I stepped out of the shower and my husband gave me that hands-on-his-hips, fake-disappointed look: “Did you go to Diptyque again?” A Diptyque-level scent for P600? Say no more. Now, can someone convince Ms. Kylie to turn this into a perfume?
3. Boum Boum Milk by Violette FR
I’ve been using this face mist since its launch in 2019. Back then, I had just moved back to Cyprus, and my skin was breaking out badly. Luckily, Violette_FR released this ultra-convenient, low-maintenance skincare essential. I've been hoarding my stash ever since—but now, you don't have to! They finally ship to the Philippines! They now ship to the Philippines! Bonus: if your husband hates skincare routines, this might be the one product he’ll actually use.
I never thought I’d get much use out of a small bag—I’m a big bag person, especially as a mom. But in our house, this bag from Anatomy is known as the Hermione bag because it somehow fits way more than it looks like it should. Plus, it’s customizable, making it feel even more special.
I’ve always loved birds, and after taking down our Christmas tree, I wanted something small yet charming to brighten up a corner of our apartment. Enter the Tweet Lantern from KCurated. It’s a little touch of magic that makes our space feel more like home. I love reading beside it, and on rough days, just looking at it lifts my mood.
Bonus: Kelvin Bacon
My family has been longtime fans of Kelvin Bacon ever since we first tasted it as a sandwich from our favorite local coffee spot, Del Union. Do your taste buds a favor and take home a batch or two of this artisanal bacon—I promise you won’t regret it.
As we continue this journey of discovering things we love, we hope to bring you honest, thoughtful recommendations that bring joy, comfort, and maybe even a little magic into your life. Whether it’s a piece of clothing that fits just right, a scent that transports you, or a tiny home decor piece that sparks happiness, the best things are the ones that truly resonate with us.
Which item will you be trying out this month?
