The Philippines has quickly emerged as a major player in cacao production, with local chocolates gaining international recognition and winning prestigious awards. This Halloween, why not support local chocolatiers and bring a touch of Pinoy flavor to your trick-or-treat treats?

From rich dark chocolate to unique Filipino flavors, these local brands are putting the Philippines on the map. Here are five homegrown chocolate brands that are worth trying for a sweet, local twist on your Halloween treats:

1. Auro Chocolate

Since 2017, Auro Chocolate has been working directly with local farmers to produce award-winning chocolate bars. They highlight distinct Filipino flavors like ube and calamansi alongside delicious dark chocolate. Auro also has cafes in Metro Manila and focuses on sustainability and supporting the livelihoods of their farmers.

2. Tigre y Oliva

Founded by an Italian chocolatier in La Union, Tigre y Oliva uses locally-sourced cacao to create single-origin chocolate bars that reflect the unique characteristics of each farming community. One standout treat is their Dulce Gatas Bombs—bonbons filled with rich caramel.

3. Malagos Chocolate

Malagos Chocolate, a family-run business in Davao, has been making single-origin chocolate since 2013. They’ve garnered international acclaim for their chocolate bars and drinking chocolate. You can also visit their cacao farm, chocolate museum, and laboratory for a behind-the-scenes tour of the production process.

4. Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates

Theo & Philo blends Davao-sourced cacao and Bacolod sugar with playful Filipino flavors. Their dark chocolate bars include unique combinations like green mango & salt, calamansi, adobo, siling labuyo, barako coffee, and turon, offering a true taste of Filipino ingenuity.

5. 1919 Chocolate

Based in Batangas, 1919 Chocolate stands out as a tree-to-bar brand that uses cacao from their heritage farm, which is over 100 years old. Since starting in 2019, they’ve created a variety of flavors such as toasted milk and strawberry, ube, and dulce de leche, all highlighting the unique qualities of their locally-grown cacao.
