In the ever-evolving world of content creation, finding a voice that resonates deeply with a specific culture is both an art and a responsibility. For Tita G, that voice has become a beacon for many who see themselves reflected in her stories and humor. With a unique blend of authenticity, wit, and cultural relevance, Tita G has carved out a space that speaks to the heart of the "tita" culture in the Philippines. In this interview, we delve into her personal and professional journey, exploring the inspiration behind her content, the impact of her work on her audience, and how she maintains authenticity in an increasingly curated digital world.

What inspired you to create content that resonates so deeply with the "tita" culture in the Philippines?

As the saying goes, life imitates art! Majority of the content that I create are inspired by real life events, encounters, experience and thoughts that I have personally encountered. I guess I am just in the right age/time/space to be in that sweet spot of being a millennial-tita, and I take pride and a lot of care in making sure I do a good representation of our generation.

Can you share a moment when you realized your content had struck a chord with your audience?

People love authenticity! I love authenticity and so it does not surprise me that the most engaging content I put out are the ones that are inspired by real experience or the likes of “story time.” And it really is a beautiful thing to see many of the things we go through are actually shared, to know that the content I create resonates with people and as long as it has reached one person today (and hopefully made a positive impact in their life) then I must be doing something right.

How has your journey as "The Tita G" influenced your personal life?

It has allowed me to be more discerning with the way I approach people and has developed a greater sense of empathy within me.. You meet a lot of people online - the good, the bad, the nonchalant! Also, one of the core content that I used to create was the different slangs of each generation and as funny as it may seem, it actually gave me a new perspective on how proper communication with one another is important for us to thrive and understand each other. I’d like to think Tita G has been a guiding force in my growth as a person.

What challenges have you faced in maintaining authenticity while growing your brand?

The fear of being cringe - I admit, there are days when I get so conscious about the content that I create because of the fear of being judged that I often reach a content slump. HUHU

Where do you draw inspiration for your content, and how do you keep it fresh and relatable?

Real life experience, stories of my friends and family members and a lot of them are inspired from current events, the latest trends and videos of my favorite creators.

What’s your process for developing new ideas, and how do you decide which ones to bring to life?

I am actually very spontaneous when it comes to creating content, when a new story comes in or an idea pops up, I write it down so I don’t forget it, then I allot a weekend to shoot all of the pending content in one go. In terms of what gets uploaded or not, I usually go through a review process wherein I do a double take of the content (if it’s funny, relatable, weird?) then I ask a couple of my closest friends to do a no-bias judgement if it’s good to go!

Has there been any particular feedback or story from a follower that has stuck with you?

Whenever I read comments that say they feel represented and have found a friend who understands what they’re going through. More than anything, it also makes me feel like I am not alone and it’s okay to feel this way and eventually (hopefully) we are all going to be okay.

What are your thoughts on the Filipino tradition of celebrating Christmas as early as September?

I love it! I love how early the festivities start here because suddenly everyone and everything seems warm. Come September, tila nagiiba na ang simoy ng hangin. The anticipation to meet with family, gather with friends and celebrate love is magnified.

Also it gives you that sense of hope that once again we are approaching the culmination of the year and we are ready to celebrate the wonderful year that was with the gift of Christmas.

Do you have any special memories or traditions for the Christmas season that you’d like to share?

For me, Christmas is always special because it’s that one time of the year that I am guaranteed to go home (to my hometown in Davao) and be with my family. I guess this is also the reason why Christmas is such a beloved celebration for many Filipinos, it’s that special time of the year wherein we get to feel the warmth of home- whether that’s a place or a person.

How do you feel about the influence you’ve gained as a content creator, especially among the "titas" and the younger generation?

It’s something that I mindfully carry with me. I know that as a creator, I have a responsibility to create content that is entertaining but at the same time adds value to the people consuming it. I make sure that I do a good representation of my fellow titas and titos, pay homage to the older generations and be a good model to the younger generation.

What advice would you give to aspiring content creators who want to connect with a specific cultural or demographic group?

Always do your research because not everything is as it is (especially now!) Data is your friend and it always pays to spend another hour just to double/triple check your facts. When you want to connect with a specific cultural/demographic group - know that we have different backgrounds, culture, lifestyle so there will be a lot of room to try varied content and messaging. And above all, always choose to be kind!

In what ways do you see your platform evolving in the next few years?

My platform and content in general will probably evolve with me as I grow and go through things in life. So with that, hopefully I get to create a space where fellow millennial titas/titos can thrive and grow together – even bridging different generations into one harmonious space.

What’s one thing that most people might not know about you?

I am actually a corporate girlie! I have a full time job wherein I do sales and programs in the education space which I am really grateful for (shoutout to the amazing schools and teachers who make my work impactful and meaningful) and YES I thrive in my 9 to 5 and I love the structure that it brings to my life.

If you could collaborate with any other content creator or celebrity, who would it be and why?

I actually don’t have someone specific in mind but just in case there’s another millennial tita or tito out there, it’d be great to gather and share more stories relevant to our generation.

Tita G’s journey is a testament to the power of authenticity and the importance of cultural representation in content creation. Through her work, she has not only entertained but also built a community where millennial titas and titos can connect, share, and grow together. Her story is one of passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to staying true to her roots while embracing the influence she wields. As she looks to the future,  Tita G continues to inspire with her unwavering dedication to creating content that is not only relatable but also impactful, reminding us all that in the world of digital storytelling, authenticity remains the most valuable currency.
