Roque behind viral fake video of Marcos using illegal drugs - blogger
Metro Manila, Philippines - Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was among people behind the viral fake video of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. using illegal drugs, a blogger claimed on Tuesday, April 8.
During the House tri-committee hearing on disinformation, Pebbles Cunanan said she attended a private dinner last year in Hong Kong with Roque and vloggers supporting former President Rodrigo Duterte. The video was discussed during the gathering, the blogger said.
Roque is an ally of the Duterte family. The former chief executive's daughter, Vice President Sara, had a falling out with Marcos.
Cunanan said the material, tagged as “polvoron video,” was released as part of Roque’s plan to take down the president.
“Hindi ako naniniwala na si PBBM ‘yan [I do not believe that that is the president],” Cunanan told lawmakers, referring to the polvoron video.
“Kung ‘yung edad niya that time, kung titignan pong mabuti ‘yung nasa video, kung 30 plus pa lang siya or 40, parang wala pa yatang cellphone nu’n,” she explained.
[Translation: If he was around 30 or 40 years old at that time when the video was supposedly taken, there was no cellphone yet.]
Days after the Hong Kong dinner, Cunanan said Roque revealed the video in a rally in Canada.
In her affidavit, Cunanan recalled that Roque said he is good at destabilizing a government.
