National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor

Metro Manila, Philippines - The state funeral for national artist and veteran actress Nora Aunor is set for Tuesday, April 22.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announced that a necrological service will be held for Aunor at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila on Tuesday.

Arrival honors will start at 8:30 a.m. while the tribute program is scheduled at 9 a.m.

The state funeral rites will follow at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

“The public is invited to attend the necrological service. Limited seats are available,” the CCP said, adding that the registration link will be released on Monday through its official social media pages and those of NCCA’s.

“For those unable to attend in person but who wish to pay their respects, the necrological service will be livestreamed on both the CCP and NCCA Facebook pages,” it said.

The wake of the National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts began on April 17 and will end on April 22.

Dubbed as the “Superstar,” Aunor died at the age of 71 on April 16 over breathing difficulties following a medical operation, her son Ian de Leon said.

Aunor, whose real name is Nora Villamayor, kicked off her career by joining amateur singing competitions. She gained attention when she won the television talent show Tawag ng Tanghalan.

She then became a film, television, and theater actor. Among her famous movies are “Himala,” “Bona,” and “Bulaklak sa City Jail.”

She also had a stint as a film producer.
