Escudero endorses Aquino senatorial bid

Metro Manila, Philippines - Senate President Chiz Escudero has endorsed the candidacy of Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV who is seeking a Senate comeback.

Aquino said he has secured Escudero’s support after they met at the latter’s Senate office in Pasay City.

"I'm thankful to have had the privilege of working with and learning from one of the best Senators of our country," the independent candidate said.

"At sa pagbabalik natin sa Senado, makikipagtulungan tayo na tutukan ang mga mahahalagang bagay na hinaharap ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino," he added.

[Translation: As we aim to return to the Senate, we will work together to focus on important matters that each Filipino family faces.]

Aquino said Escudero had a vital role in the passage of the free college education law when the senator replaced him as the education committee chairman.

The free college education law is Aquino’s landmark legislation.

For his possible Senate return, Aquino said he will push for jobs that are regular, appropriate with the degree taken, and with a humane income.
