NAIA to undergo systems overhaul - NNIC
Metro Manila, Philippines - The Ninoy Aquino International Airport private operator has partnered with US-based technology provider Collins Aerospace for a full systems overhaul of the main gateway.
The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) announced the partnership in a statement on Thursday, March 6. The project will begin in May and be completed by September.
NNIC said its partner will introduce a common use passenger processing system and common use self-service kiosks.
It said Collins Aerospace will replace multiple document checks with biometric screening, upgrade the flight information display system and the NAIA website.
“Security will also be strengthened with pre-security e-gates and passenger flow management systems,” the NNIC said.
The airport operator said the partnership will launch an airport operational database and resource management system for staff deployment and resource allocation, and a baggage reconciliation system for real-time luggage tracking.
“Advanced flight tracking and predictive analytics will improve arrival time estimates and runway planning while an automated airline billing system will streamline transactions for landing, takeoff, and other airport fees,” the NNIC said.
It said core systems for passenger processing, baggage tracking, and resource management will be operational by August.
Self-service check-in kiosks, pre-security e-gates, self-bag drop stations, and biometric boarding gates will be the last phase of the project
NNIC took over NAIA operations in September last year.
