Metro Manila, Philippines - Commuters taking the Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) will get an additional 30 minutes of operating hours on weekdays beginning Wednesday, March 26, the train operator said.

In an advisory on Tuesday, the Light Rail Manila Corp. announced that the last train at the Dr. Santos station in Parañaque will leave at 10:30 pm, while the final trip at the Fernando Poe Jr. station in Quezon City is set at 10:45 pm.

In a press statement, Enrico Benipayo, LRMC President and CEO said the company supports the call of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to provide longer train hours for commuters.

“In coming up with the new operating schedule, we also considered how the extension period will also not significantly impact the available maintenance window to ensure continuous availability, reliability, and safety of our service,” he said.

The train operator said it is also working on having additional train sets to accommodate more passengers.

On March 24, the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) extended train operations for an hour after Dizon’s appeal for an extended service.
