China willing to build stable, fruitful relationship with Portugal, foreign minister says
(Reuters) - China is willing to work with Portugal to build a more stable, fruitful and dynamic relationship, China's foreign minister Wang Yi told his Portuguese counterpart in Beijing on Tuesday.
China is also willing to work with Portugal to promote China and Europe to become strategic partners with mutual trust, Wang said, adding that China supports Europe in maintaining its 'strategic autonomy', according to a ministry statement.
Portugal's Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel is visiting China this week, as EU member states fret over the prospect of a trade war with both Washington and Beijing.
