Alex Eala reaches Miami Open quarterfinals as Paula Badosa withdraws

Metro Manila, Philippines - Alex Eala's deep run in the Miami Open continues as she advanced to the quarterfinals after world No. 11 Paula Badosa of Spain withdrew from their fourth round match due to a lower back injury on Tuesday.

The Filipino tennis ace will face world No. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland on March 26.

Eala is coming off a pair of stunning victories against reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia

Her win over world No. 5 Keys made her the first Filipino to beat a top 10 player since the Women's Tennis Association rankings started in 1975.
