MRT-3 operation extended during weekdays
Metro Manila, Philippines - The operating hours of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is extended by an hour during weekdays, starting Monday, March 24, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced.
With the new schedule, the entrance of the North Avenue Station will close at 10:25 p.m. and Taft Avenue Station at 11:04 p.m.
The longer operations came after Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the extension in response to public clamor.
“Malaking bagay yan (MRT-3 extension) lalo na sa mga kababayan natin na ginagabi,” Dizon said in a presser.
[Translation: That is a big thing, especially for our fellow Filipinos who go home late.]
The DOTr also said that more train sets will be deployed during peak hours to accommodate the surge of commuters.
The new operating hours will not be implemented during weekends for the train line’s regular maintenance.
During weekends, the last train will leave North Avenue Station at 9:30 p.m. and Taft Avenue Station at 10:09 p.m.
