Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo met with Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi, India on Tuesday, March 18.

Metro Manila, Philippines – Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo met with Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to discuss the possiblel state visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to India.

“Planning the possible state visit of President Marcos to India with Minister of External Affairs H.E. S. Jaishankar,” Manalo said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Manalo said the meeting explored opportunities for collaboration in ship repair, railway construction, and improvements in visa processes.

Before meeting with the Indian minister, Manalo attended the 10th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. The dialogue, India’s flagship international conference, groups high-level officials, policymakers, and strategic thought leaders to tackle key geopolitical and geoeconomic issues.

This marks Manalo’s first participation in the Raisina Dialogue. During his visit, he also engaged with the business community and visited the Philippine embassy in New Delhi to observe its e-visa operations.

The Philippines and India established formal diplomatic relations on Nov. 16, 1949.
