Metro Manila, Philippines - Media icon Kris Aquino broke her silence on Instagram, Sunday, revealing painful truths about her personal struggles, including a breakup with her doctor-boyfriend and the worsening state of her health.

Aquino, who has been battling multiple autoimmune diseases, disclosed that her doctor and former partner left her, prioritizing personal freedom over her care.

“Iniwan kita dahil mahirap kang mahalin, sobrang sikip ng paligid,” Aquino said, quoting the message from her doctor.

She urged him to stop speaking negatively about her closest friends and doctors, who continue to support her despite her deteriorating condition.

Health crisis: “I cannot walk”

Aquino shared that her rheumatologist recently attempted ultrasound-assisted steroid shots to ease her pain, but her body reacted negatively.

“I weigh less than 80 lbs, only 36 kilos. I cannot walk. Each step is agony,” she said, detailing the excruciating pain caused by lupus arthritis, polymyositis, and acute fibromyalgia.

Despite her suffering, she remains determined to fight for her son, Bimby.

“When you are unconditionally loved, when like me you are blessed with a son who will do all to lessen his mama’s physical & emotional suffering, you will not surrender,” Aquino wrote.

"I endure the intense pain that is now a part of my everyday life because a child's love is priceless," Kris said, calling her son Bimby her "northern star,” for being so much more than she deserves.

"Life is difficult for all of us—but faith in God and real love, proven through action, gives us the willpower to persevere. Thank you, God, and thank you to everyone for your continued prayers for my healing,” she said, emphasizing “The fight continues.”

Public comeback at People Asia’s ‘People of the Year’

After years away from the spotlight, Aquino made a rare public appearance on February 25 at People Asia’s People of the Year 2025 event. She attended to support her friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva, and was accompanied by Bimby.

The timing was significant for Aquino, as the date marked the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a historic event closely tied to her family’s legacy.

“What a perfect day to come out,” she said.

Netizens expressed mixed reactions—some cheering for her strength, while others hoped for her return to television if her health allows.

Despite the heartbreak and immense physical pain, Aquino made it clear: she is still fighting.
