Alex Cabagnot retires from PBA
Metro Manila, Philippines - Alex Cabagnot is moving on beyond the PBA.
The 42-year-old last played in the league with the Converge FiberXers. He previously suited up for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League.
The FiberXers paid tribute to the veteran guard after he made a comeback in August last year.
“Thank you, Cabaggie. You legacy remains in the Converge FiberXers. Thank you, Alex Cabagnot!,” the team said on its social media account.
Cabagnot was drafted second overall by the Sta. Lucia Realtors in the 2005 PBA Draft.
Cabagnot's career was highlighted by a dominant run with the San Miguel Beermen, winning nine titles alongside the famed "Death 5" lineup with June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Marcio Lassiter, and Chris Ross.
Cabagnot was named the PBA Finals Most Valuable Player in the 2017 Commissioner's Cup, two years after winning the Comeback Player of the Year in 2015.
Cabagnot is part of Chris Gavina's University of the East Red Warriors' coaching staff in the next UAAP season later this year.
