Metro Manila, Philippines - Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano, a politician from Ilocos Sur and an agriculture official, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7. He was 65.

“Keep smiling up there, Papa,” Savellano’s youngest daughter Marie wrote on social media. “You will always be in my heart. I miss you so much and love you endlessly. Let's dance again someday in heaven.”

Savellano was the husband of actress Dina Bonnevie.

A native of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Savellano was governor and vice governor of the province.

His most recent stint in public office was as Ilocos Sur's 1st district representative from 2016 to 2022. He was also one of the deputy speakers in 2019 to 2022.

In July 2023, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed him as Agriculture undersecretary for livestock.

“Usec. DV’s unwavering commitment to advancing the livestock industry has made a significant impact on agriculture,” the Department of Agriculture said in a statement. “His leadership has been instrumental in driving initiatives that enhance the productivity, sustainability, and food security in agriculture.”

Marcos also honored Savellano, saying he “brought meaningful progress to the province, always guided by his love for Ilocos and its people.”

On Marie’s Instagram stories, she said memorial services will be held from Jan. 8 to 12 at the Aeternitas Chapels and Columbariums in Quezon City, then Jan. 13 to 17 at the family’s residence in Cabugao.
