Historical film ‘Quezon’ now in the works
Metro Manila, Philippines - Biographical historical movie “Quezon” is now in the works, film production company TBA Studios announced on Thursday, Jan. 16.
“Quezon,” written and directed by Jerrold Tarog, will feature the life of President Manuel Quezon from 1935 to 1944, showcasing his presidential campaign against then-President Emilio Aguinaldo.
The casting for the roles in the film is ongoing and will be announced soon, the distribution company said. Filming will begin in March.
“Quezon” will join blockbuster films “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” in TBA Studios’ cinematic “Bayaniverse,” a series of movies based on Philippine history.
TBA Studios President and COO Daphne Chiu said moviegoers may watch “Quezon” without seeing the first two "Bayaniverse” films as it is a stand-alone movie.
The production outfit targets to release “Quezon” later this year locally and worldwide.
TBA Studios partnered with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Film Development Council of the Philippines for the movie.
