Metro Manila, Philippines – The Mansion House, the president’s official residence in Baguio City, was opened to the public for free starting Sunday, Sept. 8.

The Mansion House features a Presidential Museum, which houses paintings and artifacts from Malacañang in Manila.

"This is so that the people can learn about their history, about the presidents. This is also very important in unification. We need to know about our history and our culture so that we feel one,” Office of the President Social Secretary Bianca Zobel said.

"This house was never really used, and it's also a continuation of the Malacañang heritage mansions that we have. This is something that we would like to put in more areas so people would have that access and knowledge," she said.

Zobel noted that prior to the opening, about 500 tourists took photos outside the mansion during weekdays, and even reaching up to 2,000 on weekends.

The Mansion House is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While walk-ins are allowed, visitors are advised to book a tour through the museum’s website or social media pages as only 20 people are accommodated per batch. Tours take place every 30 minutes.
