Metro Manila, Philippines – Meralco will charge customers more this month to reflect higher transmission costs, the power distributor said on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Meralco said in a statement the P0.1543 increase will mean a rate of P11.78 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in September from P11.63 last month.

A customer consuming 200 kilowatt-hours a month can expect to pay P31 more, it added.

“This month’s higher transmission charge more than offset the reduction in the generation charge, which went down by P0.1547 per kWh,” Meralco said in a statement.

The transmission charge is 10.1% of all charges in a billing statement.
