Metro Manila, Philippines – Davao First District Rep. Paolo Duterte, his in-law and Second Gentleman Manases Carpio, and former Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon are facing drug smuggling complaints.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV filed the complaint with the Department of Justice on Wednesday, July 31, in connection with a P6.4-billion drug shipment intercepted in 2017.

Based on a document that Trillanes posted on X, the complaint was for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Also included in the case are Nilo Abellera Jr., Pompey Perez, Allen Capuyan, Charlie Tan, Teofilo Joseph Bacud, Neil Anthony Estrella, Nanie Coronacion, and other John and Jane Does.

Trillanes is a staunch critic of Rep. Duterte’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte who launched the bloody war on drugs.

The International Criminal Court is investigating the Duterte administration’s alleged extrajudicial killings in its drug war. – Daniza Fernandez
