Train hours extended for holiday season - DOTr
Metro Manila, Philippines – Operating hours for the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines 1 and 2 will be extended on select days for the Christmas season, the Department of Transportation announced on Thursday, Dec. 5.
On Dec. 16 to 23, the last trip at the North Avenue station of the MRT-3 will be at 10:34 p.m. - an hour later than its weekday operations. The final trip at Taft Avenue station, its end point, will be at 11:08 p.m.
The first trip at North Avenue, meanwhile, will be at 4:30 a.m. from Dec. 16 to 24. The agency said regular hours for MRT-3 trains will be carried out on Dec. 26 to 30 and Jan. 2 onwards.
During Christmas and New Year, trains at the end-to-end points of MRT-3 will leave at 6:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, LRT-1 will extend operating hours by 30 minutes on Dec. 20 and 23, with the last train leaving at 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., from Dr. Santos and FPJ stations, respectively.
The DOTr said the first trip on the LRT-2 will be at 5 a.m. from Dec. 17 to 23, as well as on Dec. 24 and 31. The final trips will leave 30 minutes later than usual - at 9:30 p.m. from Antipolo station and at 10 p.m. from Recto station.
“Regular operating hours will be implemented from December 25-30 and January 1 onwards,” the agency said.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said the adjustments will ease travel.
“These adjustments will also allow our rail employees more time to spend with their families as they celebrate the holidays,” Bautista said in a press release.
