UAAP gives way in finals Game 3 schedule conflict with NCAA
Metro Manila, Philippines — The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) announced on Tuesday that the potential Game 3 of the men's basketball finals will be held on Dec. 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Initially, both the UAAP and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) had scheduled their potential Game 3 matches on the same date on Dec. 14 and venue at the Big Dome.
“The University Athletic Association of the Philippines announces that Game 2 or 3 of the UAAP Junior High School Boys’ Basketball Finals, as well as the potential Game 3 of the Collegiate Women’s and Collegiate Men’s Basketball Finals, will be played on Sunday, December 15,” the UAAP said in a statement.
“This change comes as the Smart Araneta Coliseum encountered a scheduling conflict for Saturday, December 14, which had been reserved by both the UAAP and the National Collegiate Athletic Association,” it added.
The De La Salle University Green Archers and University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons square off in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball finals on Dec. 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, the Mapua Cardinals hold a 1-0 series lead against the College of St. Benilde Blazers in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball finals.
