Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to visit the United Arab Emirates on Nov. 26, the Presidential Communications Office announced on Saturday, Nov. 23.

In a statement, the PCO said the President will meet with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

The Palace said the one-day visit is seen to boost stronger ties between the two countries, ‘forging areas of cooperation that mutually harness their shared values and common interests’.

“While the President’s visit will be short, the goodwill and opportunities it will create will be substantial, resulting in stronger Philippine-UAE relations,” the presidential office said.

Meanwhile, the Palace said Marcos asks for the understanding of Overseas Filipino Workers hoping to meet him there.

“He has decided to immediately fly back to Manila to resume his personal supervision and inspection of the relief and reconstruction activities in communities devastated by six successive typhoons,” the PCO said.

UAE’s foreign affairs minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Philippines in June.
