Pimentel bids for Marikina district representative post
Metro Manila, Philippines — Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel is seeking to continue in public office as he filed his candidacy to be Marikina City 1st District's representative on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Pimentel is term-limited in the Senate as the Constitution only permits a maximum of two consecutive terms in the upper chamber.
He said one of his priorities is strengthening the city's shoe industry.
Pimentel is set to face in the 2025 elections incumbent Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro, who is seeking a return to the House.
Teodoro filed his certificate of candidacy on Saturday. He previously served as the district's representative from 2007 to 2016.
