More police in the field to keep ‘Undas’ safe - PNP
Metro Manila, Philippines — More police personnel are on field duty particularly in transportation hubs and cemeteries where people will gather for the holiday break, national police spokesperson PBGen Jean Fajardo said in a briefing on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
She said the police are on heightened alert as the nation observes All Souls and all Saints days or “Undas” on Nov. 1 and 2.
Fajardo said more police personnel have been deployed nationwide from an initial projection of 18,000.
“Yung 21,000 po ay kasama na po dyan yung mga i-deploy po natin. At naka-deploy na po in fact, as early as Monday pa po ay nag-start na po tayo ng soft deployment natin,” Fajardo stated.

Fajardo said police regional directors can adjust measures “depending on the prevailing security situation in their areas.”
The PNP has set up assistance desks in cemeteries and transportation hubs.
“Wala po naman po tayo na mamonitor na anumang credible at seryosong banta po para po sa pag-observe po natin ang Undas,” Fajardo assured.

The PNP said the police are also engaged in ongoing rescue, retrieval, and relief operations in storm-affected areas in the aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and the threat of Super Typhoon Leon.
