Taal volcano spews ash – Phivolcs

Metro Manila, Philippines — Taal Volcano in Batangas has erupted, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The agency said the spewing of steam ash and volcanic materials lasted for around 10 minutes until half past 4 in the afternoon.

Phivolcs did not give other details.

The volcano is under the lowest alert level.

Phivolcs advised people living nearby to limit exposure to volcanic smoke or gas by remaining indoors and closing their doors and windows, and wearing an N95 face or gas mask.

It added that getting hydrated will help relieve irritation and tightness in airflow.
