Metro Manila, Philippines – The effects of a typhoon that is now threatening Taiwan are still present in some parts of northern Luzon, the weather bureau said on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said while Typhoon Krathon, called Julian when it was within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is expected to make landfall in Taiwan on Thursday, Oct. 3, the lowest wind signal remains up in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern and western portions of Ilocos Norte.

Based on PAGASA’s 5 p.m. bulletin, these provinces will have wind speeds of up to 61 kilometers per hour.

The weather bureau said Batanes and Babuyan Islands may have moderate to heavy downpour. A gale warning is also up over the northern coasts of northern Luzon.
