Metro Manila, Philippines — Filipino boxer Hergie Bacyadan found success in a different sport again after claiming the gold at the Asian Kickboxing Championships 2024 held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia over the weekend.

The 29-year-old topped the female K1 -75kg category, just two months after representing the country in the Paris 2024 Olympics with boxing silver medalist Nesthy Petecio, bronze medalist Aira Villegas, Eumir Marcial, and Carlo Paalam.

Bacyadan secured the gold via abandonment as Teng Jinwei of China backed out from the final match.

Competing in combat sports is nothing new for Bacyadan, bagging the gold in the vovinam championships and silver in wushu.

Aside from Bacyadan, Carlo Von Buminaang and Jovan Medallo brought home gold for the Philippines.
