DOH: New COVID-19 cases on Jan. 23-29 down 36% from previous week
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 30) — A total of 1,206 new COVID-19 cases were recorded during the week of Jan. 23-29, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday.
According to the DOH's weekly bulletin, the average number of new cases per day during the period stood at 172, reflecting a 36% decline from the cases logged on Jan. 16-22.
Of the new cases, one patient is in critical condition.
Hospitals are treating 456 severe and critical patients, which accounts for 9.5% of the total COVID-19 admissions nationwide.
Health officials also verified 74 deaths due to COVID-19, including six that occurred for the period Jan. 16-29.
As of Jan. 29, the country had a total of 4,072,911 COVID-19 cases, with 9,982 active infections. At least 3,997,162 have recovered, while 65,767 succumbed to the disease.
More than 73 million individuals, or 94.54% of the target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 while 21 million have already received their booster shots.
On the other hand, 6.9 million senior citizens, or 79.47% of the target A2 population, have already received their primary vaccine doses.
