Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte urges Marcos to resign
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 28) — Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte on Sunday expressed dismay over the present administration's policies and asked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to step down.
“Mr. President, kung wala kang gugma [love] at aspirations para sa iyong bansa, resign!” the mayor said during a forum in Davao City.
Duterte, the youngest son of former president Rodrigo Duterte and the brother of Vice President Sara Duterte, claimed that the crime rate dropped during his father’s administration.

“Ikaw pumalit [You succeeded him], it’s your responsibility to keep that up,” Duterte added.
Duterte also criticized Marcos’ foreign policy, claiming that the president is endangering the lives of innocent Filipinos as the administration gives “access” to the United States.
The mayor’s statement comes days after VP Sara Duterte announced that she would run for public office in the next elections.
