Gasoline up, diesel and kerosene down starting Feb. 4
Metro Manila, Philippines - Fuel price movements are a mixed bag this week, with adjustments starting Tuesday, Feb. 4.
In separate advisories on Monday, Cleanfuel and Seaoil said they will hike prices for gasoline by P0.70 per liter, while diesel cost will be cut by P1.15 per liter.
Seaoil will lower per-liter prices of kerosene by P0.90.
Pending implementation, the total net increase for gasoline stands at P3.35 per liter, diesel at P3.65 per liter, and kerosene at P2.90 per liter, based on NewsWatch Plus calculations.
The Department of Energy (DOE) earlier said this week’s adjustment might be attributed to US President Donald Trump’s call for lower oil prices and higher output in the US and other global producers.
The DOE said the “buildup of US inventory” and “uncertainty over potential US tariffs on Canada and Mexico” would also have an impact.
“But the OPEC+ Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee that oversees the group’s crude production agreement will meet this Feb. 3 to look into the oil market situation again,” it also said last Friday.
