Leila de Lima, Erin Tañada, Teddy Baguilat seek House seat
Metro Manila, Philippines – Former Senator Leila de Lima is in the race to secure a seat at the House of Representatives.
De Lima the lead nominee of the Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list, the sectoral wing of the Liberal Party.
Her fellow nominees are former representatives Erin Tañada and Teddy Baguilat.
“Walang atrasan. Tuloy na tuloy na ang laban!” De Lima said in a social media post. “Isusulong natin nang buong sigasig at katapatan ang katarungang panlipunan.”
[Translation: There’s no turning back. The fight is on! We will push social justice with full enthusiasm and honesty.]
This is De Lima’s first attempt to return to public service after she was released from her seven-year detention. She was cleared of all drug charges filed against her by the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
