Fans clash over BINI concert price
Metro Manila, Philippines – Fans of P-pop girl group BINI are divided over ticket prices for a highly anticipated two-day concert.
Some say prices that range from P1,387 to P11,195 plus a VIP soundcheck access of P1,387 were too much for a local act, while others say it’s worth the tag.
The two-night show will be on Nov. 16 and 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
“For a P-pop group na supposedly pang masa [that’s supposedly for the masses] and considering most of your fans are students? These prices are a joke,” a netizen wrote on X.
Some social media users also compared the ticket prices to other groups who recently held a show at the same venue.
“Parehas namang Ppop parehas sa araneta ang concert, pero bakit iyong isa mas mahal ng almost 5k?” a netizen said, referring to SB19.
[Translation: These are both P-pop groups. Why is BINI’s concert more expensive by P5,000?]
Some users also pointed out that the ticket price is almost as high as a K-pop concert.
“You know what I hate? Halos malapit na iyong presyo sa blackpink pero wala namang involved na super malaking gastos sa logistics dito,” a netizen said.
[Translation: You know what I hate? It’s already near with the ticket prices of Blackpink but there’s no high logistic costs here]
In 2023, Blackpink’s VIP ticket cost P19,450, inclusive of a soundcheck access.
Deserving of the price
Meanwhile, some blooms, or the nickname of BINI fans, defended the ticket prices.
“BINI deserves that price, whether you like it or not. SB19 deserves higher ticket prices too, way higher than they do with their concerts,” a netizen said.
Some fans also pointed out how other Filipinos are willing to shell out money on foreign artists.
“If hindi afford, huwag ipilit. Hindi naman kayo pinipilit manood at gumastos. Foreign artists nga ginagastusan niyo, na mas mahal pa dyan,” a user shared on X.
[Translation: If you can’t afford one, then don’t buy it. No one’s forcing you to shell out money. You’re spending much more on foreign artists]
The “Grand BINIverse” is the girl group’s first solo concert at the Big Dome, following the success of their three-night show at the New Frontier Theater in June.
Ticket selling is from Aug. 30 to Aug. 31.
