Metro Manila, Philippines - Overcast skies and rain are expected to prevail in parts of the country on Thursday, Dec. 26, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the intertropical convergence zone – where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet – will cause overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao and Palawan.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will bring overcast skies with rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains or during severe thunderstorms.

The public may also venture out to sea as no gale warning was issued. But PAGASA advised them to be cautious as waves may get rough in Luzon and the eastern seaboards of the country.
