PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela shares the locations of three Chinese research vessels that were spotted within the country’s exclusive economic zone.

Metro Manila, Philippines – Three Chinese research survey vessels were spotted within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) on separate occasions, the Philippine Coast Guard said on Saturday, Nov. 30.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela said the vessels were observed twice within the 200-nautical mile limit.

The first incident was recorded near Davao Oriental on Nov. 14, while similar vessels were seen again off Siargao island on Nov. 20.

The vessels were Xiang Yang Hong 3, Jia Geng, and Xiang Yang Hong 10.

According to Tarriela, the PCG has currently identified the presence of these vessels 211 nautical miles east of Siargao island.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has yet to comment on the matter.
