Metro Manila, Philippines – Three persons were killed and six others were injured from the effects of Tropical Storm Kristine ahead of its expected landfall, the Bicol Region Police Office reported on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Data showed the three deaths were from Bicol Region and six injuries were from Camarines Norte.

A separate data from the Office of Civil Defense showed that four were hurt in Northern Samar as seven went missing in Masbate and Cebu.

Over 380,000 people have suffered the storm effects from non-stop rains in Luzon and the Visayas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

A big majority, or more than 370,000 people, were from the hard hit Bicol region, which has been experiencing downpours since Tuesday.

Others were from Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The NDRRMC said over 12,000 people are in evacuation centers.

The government further said more than 90 areas in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula were flooded.

The weather bureau said ‘Kristine’ may intensify into a tropical storm before landfall in Isabela or northern Aurora Wednesday evening or Thursday morning, Oct. 24.
